Christmas Pictures 2011

Yes, I know I'm a month late but here are a few photos of our Christmas! A wonderful man in our ward was Santa this year. He did it at his home and we were able to go. Ty did not like it.
What would Christmas Eve be like without new pajamas!
Ty and his loot. The batman big wheel is currently living in our kitchen where he rides it everyday. Our kitchen is now turning into Ty's personal garage where he keeps the batman 'motorcycle', his scooter, and an umbrella stroller for a baby doll he likes to give rides to. The most annoying thing is he likes to 'park' his vehicles right in front of the stairs.

Bedtime Songs With Ty

Here is a video of Ty singing some songs and getting ready for bed. If he knows it's time to sing he always calls for Lucas to sing with him. It is fairly long and so I'm sure it is mostly family that will enjoy watching this!

Second Child Syndrome

This is the booster that Lucas used until he was four or five years old. Even at that age he didn't want to stop using it. Lucas does not like change and will fight it. Ty has used it for a year. For the last month it has been empty because Ty refuses to sit in it.
Here is Ty sitting up to the table on a phone book. He won't sit in the chair but will sit on a phone book. I think he just wants to be like everyone else, especially Lucas, and so, yes, he does make bigger messes but this is not a fight I need to win. He also refuses to wear a bib, another fight I've chosen to let go. If he is eating something particularly messy like ice cream with chocolate sauce I will take off his shirt and undershirt and then he will wear a bib. Silly kid!

Corn on the Cob

Last night when Ty saw me taking corn on the cob to the table he got VERY excited. I'm not sure how he remembers what it is because we haven't had it since last fall but he remembered. I actually only had two ears of corn, one for me and one for Bryan. I didn't get much of mine. He loved it and I could barely get him to eat his chicken. I had to take a picture. It was just too cute to see him gobble it up.

Flour Fun

The other day I was on the computer and Ty was in the pantry. He was being quiet and I was happy to get some time doing whatever I was doing. All of a sudden I hear an 'Uh Oh.'
He had opened a bag of flour and was having fun playing in it with a fly swatter. It took me forever to clean up but I had to laugh and take pictures.

Just for Adi

Adi, Cristy, and I got together for lunch a week or two ago. Adi asked Cristy and I if we were going to post a picture this time because we always say we will and then we usually forget. So, Adi, here is your picture. I remembered--just a little late. It was fun to catch up and just think girls--next time LeShel will be with us!!

A Sleeping Ty

Ty isn't really a baby anymore, more of a toddler.
But don't you just love sleeping babies? I do.

Ty Eating, Reading, and Causing Messes

Ty loves to read which we love! The other morning he even brought a book to the table.
And this is Ty this morning. I ran down to the basement for a few minutes and when I came back up this is what I found. I suppose I should go clean it up now (since he is now sitting in it and spreading it all over) and be grateful I have two more boxes of Rice Krispies in the pantry.

Happy Halloween

Lucas and Ty had lots of fun this year for Halloween. Ty was a lion (a costume I had from when Lucas was little), and Lucas was a GI Joe ninja.
Lucas went trick or treating with some friends and came back with a full load of candy. He even came in at one point to dump his pumpkin and then he headed back out for more.
Ty did go to a few houses but spent most the night looking out of the window and waiting for kids to come to the door. He does know what chocolate is and was so excited to see some in his pumpkin.

Bryan carved our pumpkins from the garden. My favorite is the one that has fire eyes and a fire mouth. He does a great job every year!

Funny Ty

Ty is so cute right now. He loves to get out all my pots and he stands on anything he can.

He doesn't talk yet but can say mama. When we tell him no his reply is usually to scream or cry. He falls down a lot but gets right back up and continues to do whatever he was doing before he fell. It has been a lot of fun watching him grow this summer.

Ty's First Hair Cut

Here is Ty with his shaggy hair. We loved it because it was curly in the back and it was just so cute. BUT, it was time to get it cut. He is not a girl and it was getting long. I didn't want to cut it. I messed up Lucas' hair enough times that the most I would do for Ty is trim it a little around his ears and on top. Aunt Diana had given him a trim also but today was the day for his first real hair cut.
Doesn't he look so big and cute! We went to the local Great Clips and the lady did a good job. He sat on my lap and cried the whole time. Once in a while he would try to get away but he did okay for his first time.

He is such a fun baby. He is already driving us crazy getting into anything and everything. Luckily for us he can't open the toilet lid yet and toilet paper can be put up while not in use. He can go down the stairs but keeps trying to walk down like we do. He sleeps through the night and still takes two naps!

Ty is one

Ty's first birthday kind of snuck up on me last month. I can't believe he's one! We had a small party with some family. He got a few presents that he has enjoyed playing with. He has been walking since 11 months and is working on the stairs. He is able to up and down them but sometimes decides he's tired of going down backwards. So he turns around and tries to go down them like one of us. It's scary but he is learning and hopefully by the end of the summer I won't have to worry quite so much. He loves following Lucas around and get's upset when someone leaves the house without him. He loves playing outside, playing in the toilet, throwing whatever he finds into my tub, and getting into the cupboards with all the poisonous things. He is so fun and we love him.
His birthday made me think of the last two years and how LUCKY I feel to have him in our home. I really do consider both our children miracles. I am so grateful for him and for the way he smiles!

Future Star Wars Fan

Ty already loves lightsabers. It was bound to happen since we have a mere dozen in our home. In fact, Ty got his first lightsaber for Christmas this year from Santa. He knows if the blade is down and will bring it to me so that I can fix it for him.

The other day Lucas and him started "fighting" with their lightsabers. It surprised us because we didn't realize that Ty had already figured out what they were for! The sad thing is that I totally encourage this Star Wars fasination. We already have some Star Wars toys for Ty for Christmas. They are called Galactic Heros but we call them squatty guys. So Ty will be getting his very own selection of squatty guys starting in December. Lucas has a ton already, along with normal Star Wars action figures and other superhero toys. Boys are fun!

Lucas and Ty

At night before Lucas goes to sleep he likes to play with a few of his toys in his bed. The problem with this is that he started staying up way too late. We knew we had to do something to help him go to sleep at night before 9:30. He has an egg timer that we use to help him get ready for bed quickly and we decided to use it to remind him it was time to sleep. So I started setting it for 15 minutes, telling him to lay down when it dinged and go to sleep. The first few nights went great. Then we noticed that it was taking longer then it should to ding. "It's broken." Bryan and I decided. We tested it and it did seem to be a little slow but not too bad. Then the next night I was on the computer and Lucas came to the top of the stairs. He wanted to tell me something but didn't want Bryan to hear him. I told him to tell me anyway, Bryan was in the family room, that his dad could hear what he needed to say. He wouldn't tell me. Later I went up to tuck him in and he told me, "Mom the timer isn't broken. I just wanted more time to play so I kept setting it back." I wanted to laugh but instead I just listened to him and then told him from now on we'll set the timer and then I'll take it with me. He confessed to Bryan the next day. Bryan and I have had a good laugh but we haven't let Lucas know how funny he is.
Ty has so much hair. People keep coming up to me just to say, "Wow, he has a lot of hair!". He is so cute and it always makes Bryan and I sad that our mothers are missing these fun times with him. He changes so fast. He is such a happy and good baby!

No Helmet

Monday we went back to Fit Well and Ty got to take off his helmet!! We actually could have left it on for one more month and it was possible he could have improved a bit more. We decided he looked fine. Plus, on the scale they use, 1 to 10, he was a 3. Before the helmet he was a 5 1/2 so he improved quite a bit. Just so you know 1 to 3 is in the normal range and they have told us that no one has a zero. Almost everyone has a bit of a misshaped head. Anyway, we are happy to have have Ty back with no helmet and he is still just as cute as before.
He is crawling now and doing great! He will no longer walk for us. Whenever we try to get him to walk he sits down. He will walk along furniture but has decided that crawling is good enough--unless he can get one of us to hold his hand while he walks and then he'll go anywhere.

Learning to Walk

This weekend Ty surprised us by taking his first steps! Unfortunately by the time we got the video camera out his legs were tired and he could only stand there. It is fun though to see him learning. Lucas took his first steps at 9 1/2 months and was walking well by 10 1/2 months so we didn't think Ty could beat that. But Ty is 8 1/2 months and so now we'll see if he learns quickly or decides to crawl first.

Ty Loves Lucas

I have gotten behind on posting the things that we have done this fall. As I was going through pictures I found this one of Ty looking up at Lucas when we went to the pumpkin patch in October. This made me smile because Ty really does adore Lucas. He gets so excited when he comes home from school. Lucas walks into the room and Ty just smiles. Ty is only six months so I can't wait to see how their relationship grows in the years to come.
