Placing Bets

Last year at the GFL draft when we selected Austin Collie there were a few snickers. But Lucas had his heart set on him and Bryan and I felt like it couldn't hurt. As a family we had so much fun watching Collie play for the Colts and as a rookie have a great year. Before the Colts first playoff game Bryan made a challenge. He told Lucas, 'You only get ice cream tonight if Collie gets a touchdown before the half is over (Lucas had to go to bed at the half). I didn't think Collie was going to do it then--touchdown!

Sunday Bryan decided to do another challenge. 'You only get chocolate sauce on your ice cream if Collie gets a touchdown.' (We have ice cream most Sunday nights if you're wondering.) Lucas didn't like that idea. I said, 'I will make brownies tonight if Collie get's a touchdown.' We came home from church and watched the game. Collie did amazing and yes, he got that touchdown. We had a fun afternoon watching Collie play with the Colts, and after I made some yummy brownies.

We will probably be keeping Collie on our GFL team, the Toronto Yodas, and I don't think many will laugh at us now. So my question is this. What do we bet on for the Superbowl if Collie gets a touchdown?

Ty Eating, Reading, and Causing Messes

Ty loves to read which we love! The other morning he even brought a book to the table.
And this is Ty this morning. I ran down to the basement for a few minutes and when I came back up this is what I found. I suppose I should go clean it up now (since he is now sitting in it and spreading it all over) and be grateful I have two more boxes of Rice Krispies in the pantry.

Missing Cord

Six years ago Bryan got me a PDA for Christmas. I still use it--daily. A couple of months ago Ty got milk on it and I thought it was gone for good. But I took it apart and put it back together and it started to work again.

Today, I realized that I had lost the cord to recharge the PDA. I couldn't find it anywhere and it was all my fault. For years it's always been upstairs in my bedroom. Always in the left bathroom drawer. I ALWAYS recharge it upstairs in my bathroom. But a few weeks ago I decided it would be better to bring downstairs. Then I lost it. I looked in every cupboard and drawer in the kitchen, no cord. Well, there was one but I didn't think it fit.

The think is I physically start to panic without it. My body stresses over the thought of no PDA to keep track of my to-do list. Silly but true. I always tell people that, 'If it's not on my list, I'll forget about it.' Bryan came home and started to help me look. He knows I'm much happier with it. He found the same cord that I thought didn't fit and guess what? It did fit. Don't ask how I can be so dumb but...

I don't know what this says about me. But I love that PDA and I'm excited to upgrade to an Ipod Touch in April for my birthday!

Christmas 2009

I know this is a bit late but I still wanted to post a few pictures of our Christmas for 2009. Lucas and Ty got to open their Christmas Eve pajamas from Grandma and Grandpa Garner and they loved them. I especially like Ty's. They have monsters all over them with monster faces on the feet (which you can't see in this picture).
Lucas' big gift was a new bike! He was soooo excited! He asked Santa for a blue Mongoose bike and that is just what he got. I'm sure it took Santa months to find just the right one.
Bryan got a new golf club. It is a Titleist hyprid that he has been wanting for a long time. It was fun when he saw the box (which I didn't put out until he was in bed) because he knew what was in it. I got lots of fun things like new boots, a new watch, and new books.
Ty got a little scooter and he is already learning how to use it. By summer he'll be unstoppable! We had a wonderful Christmas and feel so blessed for what we have, and for the chance to be together as a family on Christmas day.
